New Year's Eve...St. George Style!

Happy New Year 2011! We decided to hit the road and go to warm and sunny St. George with the Barker's for New Years...oh wait...cold and sunny St. George was more like it! When you wake up to snow out the window on the golf course, you know it's not swimsuit weather! But we made the most of it...we had the playground all to ourselves, played games and visited the Grand Canyon on a little known (and used) path that had us quesioning many times if we should even be attempting it. We got to know Mur and Adam a heck of a lot better and Blake, Ashton, Bens and Addie had some fun bonding time. Let's just say Benny and Ash have a love/hate relationship that is 90% love, 10% hate....we even wondered what would happen if no one intervened...
In the end it was a fantastic trip that we'd love to do again next year!!

On the road

This is where we started to worry...

Addie's stroller got a lot of use!

Um, yeah...this was Spen and Adam's idea of a good time on New Year's Eve-good thing they woke up at 11:45

This was our drive to the Grand Canyon-Shane told Spence about it but he'd only gone in the summer-the deeper the snow got the greater our fears rose-but we couldn't turn around now! Thankfully someone had been down the road just after the snow fell to make some kind of tracks for us to follow.

Finally, we reach Toroweap. So worth the drive! It took us almost 3 hours from St. George, but man was it amazing. A hidden, unobstructed view of the Grand Canyon with a 3,000 foot drop and NO guardrail...we had the kids white knuckled holding our hands or on our hips the entire time!!

This is what you get when you bring a pro photographer with you on vacation-it was really cool to see him do his work-he got some amazing shots!

Benny and Addie were so tired after we left. We took a faster way home and grabbed some dinner on the way.

You know you love your kids when you put on a swimsuit in JANUARY with not a hint of sun to your body and go swimming at an indoor pool-but we had a ball

Yep-snow in St. George. What a fun trip!! See ya in March :)
